The Rake, a little indie horror game launched in 2015, takes on the paranormal phenomena genre and turns it into something original, that every courageous gamer can enjoy. But this action adventure sim will not only play on your every sense, it will change the way you see myths forever!
The adventure hurls you into the midst of a northeastern United States town where, in 2003, the media is alerted by sightings of a mysteriously strange human-looking creature showing up just before an unexpected blackout. The Rake secret is deepened by the fact that all records, photos and written accounts of this creature are destroyed. All that remains are the witnesses’ stories… but how real are they?
Three years after the events, more than two dozen documents of different and similar events have amassed. They start from the 12th century and span over four continents. In most cases, the witnesses’ stories sound awfully similar. This poses a great question, do ghosts and mythological creatures exist? What about urban legends? Are Chupacabra, Yeti, Bigfoot and The Rake just stories?
When you start this little journey, you become Gordon Davis, a brave maverick explorer of strange new worlds and legends always on the lookout for American legends and urban myths. Now you are in the place where The Rake has been seen numerous times. During the day you set up your devices, readers, cameras and motion sensors throughout the forest. But at night you must become vigilant, check all of your cameras and notice anything unusual that may take place. If you feel brave enough, you can go to where your cameras are placed and investigate. You may want to take a weapon with you, just to make sure.
The Rake has intuitive controls and you will rapidly learn how to play it. Graphics may not be the best, but hey, Five Nights at Freddy’s is no visual masterpiece either! The single player version offers an amazingly terrific experience, but the multiplayer is a whole other story completely, mainly because of its bugs. The audience loved the game; sadly, the developer Konsordo gave up working on the game a long time ago, and any hint at a new supernatural experience is gone.
If you feel that The Rake could be an appropriate adventure for you, you should know you can find it on Steam for the measly price of $5. Give the game a second look via the widget below:
